  Gun Firing Man At  A&C Mall In Viral  Video Turns To Be  Police Sergeant

Information released by the Public Affairs Unit of the Ghana Police Service has revealed that the gun firing man at A&C Mall in a viral video has turnd to be an police officer, Flt. Seageat Nicholas Owusu Frimpong.

Currently the police in a press statement announced of a manhunt for man who fired warning shots at A&C Mall in a viral video.

Following this development, the police administration has offered a GH¢5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of a man who was seen in a viral video firing an assault rifle into the air in public.

The video showed the man firing the gun at the A&C mall in East Legon on December 31, 2021, supposedly to usher in the new year, 2022.

In a statement, the police noted that it “is a crime to discharge a firearm in public without lawful and necessary occasion under Section 209 of the Criminal Offences Act 1960 (Act 29).”

“The Police Administration after reviewing the video footage has placed an amount of GH¢5,000 as a bounty for anyone who can provide information leading to his arrest to face prosecution,” the police added.

However, in a press statement signed and issued by Director incharged of Public Affairs Unit of the Ghana Police Service, Suprienterdent Alexander Kwaku Obeng, the police administration disclosed that the collaboration between the police and military police has led to the arrest of Flt. Sergeant Nicholas Owusu Frimpong in connection of discharging firearm at A&C Mall, East Lego on Friday December, 31, 2021.

According to the statement dated Monday January 3, 2022 and copied to Soireenews.com, the suspect was arrested following the police investigations into the incident of a young man captured on a video footage firing several shots firearms at A&C Mall purportedly to welcome the new year, 2022.

The statement noted that Flt Sergeant Nicholas Owusu Frimpong is currently detailed by the military police whilst investigation continue.

The statement asserted that "as we continue to make merry for the new year, we want to urge the public to be guided in their celebration and desist from the acts they  would compromise public safety and order.
