Government Initiates Ideas To Monitor MMDAs Activities

Local government, Tamale Assembly

Honorable Daniel Kwaku Botwe, Minister for Local Government, Decentralization, and Rural Development (LGDRD) says new ideas had been invented to monitor the activities of the various MMDAs in the country.

He said the government will track the daily Programmes and activities of the MMDAs to have a fair report of their activities.

At a 3-day refresher course organized for all MMDCEs from the Ashanti, Bono, Ahafo, and the Western North regions in Sunyani, Honourable Daniel Botwe says government will no longer wait for yearly or quarterly reports of Programmes and activities of the various assemblies but will track their daily Programmes and activities and a fair report about them.

According to the minister, this will inform the government and the Local Government ministry about what goes on at the various assemblies to enable the government and the assemblies to deliver on their mandate.

Honourable Daniel adds that the refresher training after their orientation will enable them to know the challenges the  MMDCEs encounter in executing their duties and offer them the necessary guidelines and assistance. He says this is also another platform for the MMDCEs to interact and share experiences about their work.

Meanwhile Justina Owusu-Banahene, Bono regional minister also charges the MMDCEs to ensure value for money in their activities. She however charges them to master strategies and frameworks to generate revenue in their respective localities for development and reduce leakages in the various assemblies.
