Tulenkey has pointed out that other artists who have international recognition have worse lyrics than Ghanaian artists.

The rapper said this in a conversation on the quality of music Ghanaian artists produced and how likely it is they win the Grammy Awards with it.

According to him, there is nothing wrong with the quality of music does not matter as long as artists can't sell their music properly.

He solidified his point with the Nigerian act, Rhema.

He noted that the young superstar does not have anything to offer in the way of writing good lyrics, but he is beloved on the international stage because he sells his music well.

“Rema spits more gibberish in his songs. In dumebi, he has like a 16-bar verse of gibberish. He didn’t say anything sensible but he’ll be nominated for most international awards, even Grammys. I always say that Grammy is not about the lyrics or composition,” He said while speaking with Elsie Lamar on Talkertainment.

“If you compare someone who writes a lot but doesn’t sell his music to another person who doesn’t say anything sensible but is able to sell his music, the latter is a better musician. If I’m playing drums or a guitar can you translate what it is saying?"

"Music is melodies. If the melodies are better, people will enjoy it more. It is high time we stopped the unnecessary comparison. We don’t understand Jerusalema but we sing it so well and nicely. Imagine that song was also gibberish,"

He further argues about the need to be part of a music label if an artist hopes to sell music well.

“More than 50% of Ghanaian artists in Ghana do not have a record label and that’s not the way to go. I’m not saying it’s a bad thing but if we really want to go far and win Grammy’s then that’s a wrong path. Mostly Davido, Wizkid and Tiwa Savage, Burna Boy move to the next level and before you know it, they’ve won a BET or Grammy award. Or they get a contract from one of the big record labels which open doors for them."

“We are not projecting our country enough and we are not investing enough,” he concluded
