Ghanaians Encouraged  To Patronize Local Herbal  Medicines Instead Of  Foreign Medicines

Madam Miezah who doubles as the Western Regional treasurer of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) said the usage of chemical medicine has become rampant in society forgetting the locally produced verbal medicines God almighty grant it unto mankind.

The Deputy Director General at the Ghana Lottery Authority, Madam Anna Horma Miezah, has encouraged Ghanaians to patronize locally herbal produced medicines and reduced the intake of foreign medicines which contains a lot of chemicals.   
Madam Miezah who doubles as the Western Regional treasurer of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) said the usage of chemical medicine has become rampant in society forgetting the locally produced verbal medicines God almighty grant it unto mankind. 
Madam Anna said Government enforces the regulations attached to it in other for citizens to be able to identify the right medicine to use. 
Madam Miezah made the call when she was speaking at the first-ever herbal medicine book launch in Accra which was entitled Common Medicinal Plant of Ghana. 
According to her, the attitude of attaching spirituality to it has posed fear and panic in citizens and has reduced patronage. 
On his part, the Acting Executive Director of the Center for Plant Medicine Research and Author of the book, Dr. Kofi Bobi Barimah, said the rationale behind the book was aimed to educate people on the right way to blend medicinal leaves to achieve a goal. 
He advised Ghanaians to be careful when purchasing medicine from the market especially those that Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has not approved.
