Gary Lineker has labelled the Real Madrid team which played against Chelsea in the two legs of the Champions League semifinals as the poorest Madrid team he has seen.

The BT Sports hosts of the Champion’s League was a witness to the game when the 13-time champions were laid to the sword by the young Blues to deny them a final in the competition they know best.

Chelsea qualified on a 3-1 aggregate, 1-1 at the Estadio Alfredo de Stefano and 2-0 at the Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.

"Finally Chelsea bury the semi-final," Lineker tweeted after Mason Mount scored the Blues' second goal of the night.

"They've been excellent and a million miles the better side against the poorest Real Madrid team I think I've ever seen."

Rio Ferdinand maintained his comments on the show during the return leg that Los Blancos were a group of tired athletes and could not much the young blood of Chelsea.

"Yes they've [Real Madrid] got good players, but they looked tired tonight," Ferdinand said on BT Sport.

"They looked like an old team tonight and Chelsea looked like a young team who were hungry.

"They could have won by about five or six goals tonight. We said before about them playing quick and in transition and breaking from midfield.

"[N'Golo] Kante did that for the first goal; they did in time and time again after that and they got the job done."
