The Chief of Nyinahini, Nana Amanpene Boateng Twum II says the Free Senior High School Educational Policy implemented by the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s government is one of the boldest government oriented policies since Ghana’s independence.

He lavished praises on its fulfiment when the Vice President of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia visited the Atwima Mponua District for a sod cutting ceremony on the construction of Roads and other projects by means of the Sinohydro project on Friday, November 22, 2019. Nana acknowledged that Ghanaians shall forever be grateful to the president for such an astute guiding principle for the fostering of Ghana’s future leaders.

‘I’ll take this opportunity to thank the NPP government for the free Senior High School policy since this is your first visit to the community after its implementation. It’s one of the boldest and the development oriented government policies since the country’s independence and Ghanaians shall forever be grateful to His Excellency Nana Akufo-Addo and his government,” he commended.

Speaking at a gathering in the Nyinahini Community, Nana Amanpene Boateng commended the Sports Minister and Member of Parliament (MP) for Atwima Mponua, Hon. Isaac Kwame Asiamah for the almost completed Sports Center of Excellence at Nyinahini.

The 5,000-capacity Nyinahin project houses a FIFA-standard football pitch, athletics tracks, courts for volleyball and basketball, ICT and counseling centres, a restaurant and offices. He expressed gratitude for his effort to furnish the Constitutency and motivated him to keep on with the good work.

“We are grateful to the Minister of Youth and Sports for his role in locating the facility at Nyinahini and also ensuring that the project is completed on schedule,” he said.

The facility will host 25-sporting disciplines with hostel facilities.

On the Sinohydro Master Project Support Agreement that seeks to influence a fraction of Ghana’s bauxite deposit for some critical infrastructure projects, the chief revealed that the people of Nyinahini are monitoring the activities of GIADEC (Ghana Integrated Aluminum Corporation), a society that fully harness the nation’s Bauxite resources, and anchors deep community engagement on responsible mining and environmental sustainability to transform the Nyinahini community into a model city through job creation and developmental projects.

He disclosed that inhabitants have learnt lessons from the plights of people in Obuasi, Tarkwa and Awaso therefore the activities of GIADEC should be in their interest. On the location of the refinery, the chief sought for assurances that the Nyinahini deposit would be mined and refined into alumina in the community.

“Our people are seriously monitoring activities of GIADEC and anticipating that the project will uplift their living conditions, turn Nyinahini into a model city and bring about drastic transformation in the Ashanti Region as a whole.

“One hot issue agitating the minds of our people is th site of the refinery. Bauxite mining is like sand winning. It will not create the jobs that the people desire. The main thing is the refinery. There has been speculations that the refinery would be sited outside Nyinahini and its environs. Our people need to be assured that the deposit will be mined and refined here and nowhere else,” he added

He pleaded to Ghanaians to give the NPP a second term to fulfill with major projects that they have begun in their first term.

Hon. Isaac Kwame Asiamah, Member of Parliament for Atwima Mponua showed gratitude for their support of residents of Atwiman Mponua towards the New Patriotic Party in the 2016 elections and addressed that as part of the promises by the party to make Nyinahini the land of Bauxite, the aspiration is now a reality to change the appearance of Nyinahini.

“Nyinahini was known as the biggest village in West Africa. We had no light, water and were lacking in so many things but through the NPP government, there has been an alteration, which has affected lives. We promised you that when Nana Addo is voted to power, the Bauxite mining would be a reality. Here we are. The next line of action is the Nyinahini Sports Stadium,” he said.
