Bono Region: Wenchi residents cries over poor sanitation

Residents of Wenchi in the Bono Region cry as they are exposed to many health dangers due to poor sanitation in the area.

The current sanitation situation in Wenchi is a worrying situation that needs urgent attention from the government. 

In regards to that Radio West Africa program dubbed Afisem Host Nana Anfreh Damanata had an interview with some Assembly Members of the area on measures taken to address the situation.

Honorable Kassim Mohammed the Assembly Member for the Ahenfie and the Unit Committee Chairman for the Kokroko electoral area blamed the leading waste management company, Zoomlion Ghana Limited in charge of for their inability to meet their obligation. 

Assembly Member for the Ahenfie and the Unit Committee Chairman for the  Kokroko electoral areas in an interview with Wenchi-based Radio West Africa Bono Regional town of Wenchi said zoomlion Ghana Limited, the leading waste management company in charge of sanitation has failed to manage the situation.

The stench emanating from the sanitation sites is unbearable they added.

Meanwhile the public relations officer for the leading waste management company, Zoomlion Ghana Limited in the Bono Region, George Manu blamed the government for their inability to pay.

He said the government owes them for about 6 months.

Mr. George Manu said despite the company in its agreement with the government to pay them every quarter (3 months) government is owing them about 6 months of arrears which is far above the contract agreement.

He, therefore, called on the government to release funds owed to the company in other that they can meet their obligation to the citizenry.

He finally encouraged Ghanaians to purchase household waste bins to help curb the menace to ensure a clean environment.
