All public gatherings should adhere to the Covid-19 protocols as Bono East prepares to receive Johnson and Johnson vaccines next week, Bono East Regional Director of Health, Dr Fred Adomako Boateng, charges residents.

The Bono East Regional Director of Health, Dr Fred Adomako Boateng, has revealed that they are expected to receive their first consignment of the Johnson and Johnson vaccines next week.

In an interview with the media, he said the Directorate in consultation with the region's security agencies has already put some measures in place to curtail the spread of the virus.

He said all safety protocols lined out by the President, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will be enforced by all the security agencies in the region.

He further disclosed organizers of any event organized in the region will have the solemn responsibility of ensuring that those attending such events abide by the protocols.

"If we come to your church and we see that people are not adhering to the protocols, we will hold the management responsible and this translates to all public transports as well.

"If any of your passengers are not wearing nose masks, we will hold the drivers responsible". Dr Adomako.

He disclosed that one of the ways of punishing those who fail to wear their nose masks will be forced by the security agencies to buy the nose mask for GHc10.00. 

Dr Fred Adomako Boateng also hinted at the number of positive cases in the Bono East region.

According to him, although on the national grid, Bono East as a region is doing well in terms of virus management currently, there is a total of 323 active cases with almost 33 death while 13 of the deaths were recorded within 10 days which is very alarming. 

Out of the 323 active cases, 310 are mild cases, 5 are moderate, 3 are severe while 3 are in critical conditions with a total of 49 active health workers catering for all the patients.
