Bawumia congratulates Ghana's new Cardinal

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President, has expressed his heartfelt congratulations to Bishop Richard Kuuia Baawobr, the Catholic Bishop of the Wa Diocese, on his elevation as a Cardinal for the Catholic Church.

In a list released by Pope Francis, Rev. Baawobr was named alongside 21 other Cardinals who will begin serving at the Vatican in August 2022.

The Vice President expressed his delight at the appointment in a social media post, calling it "excellent news for Ghana" and "worthy of celebration."

Bishop Baawobr is now the Chief Shepherd of the Catholic Diocese of Wa in Ghana.

He was ordained as a priest on July 18, 1987, after being born on June 21, 1959.

He was ordained as a Bishop on May 7, 2016.

"Congratulations to the Catholic Bishop of the Wa Diocese, Bishop Richard Kuuia Baawobr, M.Afr, on his elevation as a Cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church by the Pope," Dr. Bawumia posted on Facebook.

"This is great news for Ghana and something to rejoice over," Dr. Bawumia wrote on Facebook.
