Armed Robbers Are Killing Us In Akuapem North But MCE, MP Left Us In Our Fates--Residents Cry As They Hit Of Never Again Demo

Residents in Mamfe and Saforo of the road stretch to Koforidua within the Akuapem North municipality of the Eastern Region have stated that their lives are seriously in danger following the current rampant armed robbery and killing incidents in their areas.

According to the residents who are living in constant fear following incessant armed robbery attacks in their areas, they were left in their fates by the Member of Parliament (MP) for Akuapem North Constituency, Nana Ama Dokua Asiama Adjei, the Municipal Chief Executive, Mr Berima Aseidu Larbi and Akropong District Police Command of Ghana Police Service.
The residents told the Soireenews.com that Mamfe and Saforo become the ghost towns as scores of people were contemplating leaving the two communities if the robbery attacks persisted.

Due to these they are calling on the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and National Security Minister to immediately come and help them otherwise they life is at risk, since the authorities in the municipality have snubbed them.
"We have made several appeals to the MCE, MP and Police officers of Akropong District Police Command, but they are not responding to us,” the residents stated
The residents of Mamfe and Saforo told the Soireenews.com that they were blaming these state officials because it seems that they were helpless in dealing with these situations because they do not care for the lost of human lives from the severe and bloody attacks meted out to some of their colleagues by these armed robbers.
In last month alone, they revealed that a quite number of armed robberies have occurred in around Mamfe and Saforo in which one person was shot dead by the armed robbers, but the Akropong District Police Command Command does not have a single assault rifle to fight the rising cases of armed robbery attacks.
"...about three weeks ago, a young man was robbed and killed by these armed robbers. And also about three months now, the robbers shot two people for which one was killed. And there are several armed robbery cases in the municipality which needs immediate security attention to address the situation," the residents complained.
Sensing danger of the rampant of armed robbers attacks on the individuals in some communities within the municipality, the residents pointed out that the stakesholders of these various electoral areas have officially written letters to draw the attention of the MP, MCE and senior police officer of the Akropong District Police Command to deal with the issues.
But, according to the residents, these state authorities have since not taken any proper action, hence the continuous armed robbery incidents in their areas.
The residents indicated that they were told that the Assembly members were raising these issues of armed attacks on the individuals in their various meetings in the Assembly they held with the MCE who is the Chairman of Akuapem North Municipal Security Committee (MUSEC) but no proper measures were taken to effectively address the calamity.
"The lack of these measures to address our concerns have informed decision to demonstrate and send the petition to the MCE to come to their aid to fix the streetlights and also get the communities well established police barriers.
