Appiatse explosion: Mortal remain of the dead person laid in state, mourners pay final respect

The mortal remains of the victims who died as a result of the mineral explosion that occurred at Appiatse, a suburb of Bogoso in the Prestea Huni-Valley municipality on January 20, 2022, have been laid in state at appiatse. 

The deceased Obaapanyin Ekua Nyame, 80 years, Isaac Anane, 35 years, Isaac Benyin, 35 years, Emmanuel Quainoo, 29 years, Justice Kwesi Takwa, 21 years, Michael Afriyie, 19 years and Ella Baidoo 15 months. 


As part of the funeral activities by the Local Organising Committee, the general public and dignitaries were allowed to pay their last respect to the deceased persons as a way of sympathising with the bereaved families. 

Hundreds of people including l ones, government officials, traditional leaders, Rev. Ministers and corporate entities have all gathered to participate in the burial service.

Some of the dignitaries presents include Benito Owusu-Bio, Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, in charge of Forestry, Board Chairman of the Minerals Commission, Barbara Oteng Gyasi, Isaac Dasmani, Municipal Chief Executive, Prestea Huni-Valley, Madam Daphine Kemeh, Deputy Director Western Regional Coordinating Council, Charles Cobbinah, PRO Western Regional Coordinating Council, Nana Nteboah Pra IV, Divisional Chief of Himan-Prestea, Nana Atta Kojo Bremebi II, Chief of Bepo, Nana Akwasi Sompreh II, Bogoso Cocoasehene, Francis Abaidoo Duncan, NADMO Coordinator, Bogoso, Apostle Anyinah Gyamfi, Area Head of Church of Pentecost, Rev. Father Edward Cudjoe, Parish Priest, Bogoso Catholic Church

Reverend Father Edward Cudjoe, Parochial administrator, Saint Michael Catholic Church, Bogoso, in a word of exhortation encouraged the bereaved families not to be troubled but instead, look onto God who created the universe. 

He asked every Christian to be vigilant and serve the Lord well.

Also, the deputy minister for Lands and Natural Resources in charge of forestry in his speech said, the government standstill to deliver his promises of reconstructing the community for the people of Appiatse and also gave out 25,000 Ghana cedis to the bereaved families.

Finally, speaking to some of the bereaved families, they expressed their appreciation for the arrangement made for them during the funeral of which they said indeed they have lost loved ones and playing that they will find perfect rest in peace.
