The African Business Centre for Developing Education(ABCDE) and the Spio Garbrah Foundation, have marked the International Youth Day(IYD) chargeing youth to work on their talents.

The International Youth Day(IYD) is a day set aside globally  by the United Nations to  focus on youth-related issues in developing their skills.

"Green Skills" being the focus for the year 2023 IYD, the ABCDE which has engaged in activities that entail the youth in the past twelve years has assembled great minds to mark the day.

This year's event which took place at the Action Chapel International(ACI) in Accra saw youth leaders and even older persons come together to learn at the feet of speakers such as Honourable Dr. Zanetor Agyemang Rawlings who charged the gathering not to rest on their owls as there were much more they could achieve.

She admonished the youth to take up the responsibility of developing their God-giving talents for job creation.

She further encourages the gathering of youth to better their lots by developing their God-given talents while at the same time urging those who must seek career training at a Technical Vocational Education and Training(TVET).

She urged those with a special talent for arts and painting to seek training to be better. Honourable Zanetor was generous enough to express her readiness to assist a student who almost got frustrated about the choice, of course, to offer at the Senior High School.

Bishop Dr. Suzanne Nti told the gathering to aim at something and pursue it to the latter. Bishop Obodai also charged the gathering of youth to be at their best.

Speaking in an interview with the Chairman of ABCDE, Dr. Ekwow Spio Garbrah at the sidelines of the event, he bemoaned the unending activities of galamseyers which have impacted water bodies negatively.

According to him, most water bodies are ddecolorizeddue to the activities of illegal mining, a matter he believes must change with proper education.

The implications, he observed, has dire consequences on the continuous existence of human therefore rallying every hand on the desk to deal ruthlessly with the menace.

He noted that the Green Skills being talked about are to both promote protecting the environment while at the same time creating environmental awareness for the sustenance of gains.

Referencing Hon. Zanetor who attributed the destruction of the forest, water, and land, among others as chemical genocide-that is the estruction of the environment with harmful chemicals, he said the youth must be resolve to mitigate the sad narrative.

The ABCDE chairman called on the youth to reverse the trend which is fast eroding lives with recycling, and beach cleaning initiatives with the energy and ideas they posses.

Dr. Spio Garbrah challenged the youth to lead the campaign against throwing garbage around.
