The criminal activities of two individuals has landed them in big trouble.

The Ashaiman Circuit Court has sentenced two persons to the counts of stealing, to 200 and 300 penalty units on the two counts.

Solomon Quinoo and Enoch Badasu both electrician and labourer respectively were convicted and sentenced in two counts of 200 penalty units or in default serve 15 months in prison and 300 penalty units or in default serve a 24 months jail term.

The sentences are to run concurrently. Prosecuting: Chief Inspector S. Aperweh read the brief facts in court that the complainant, Humari Paul aged 47, is a welder and resides at Lebanon, a suburb of Ashiaman whilst 1st accused person, Solomon Quinoo aged 24, is an electrician and resides at Adjei-Kojo.

The 2nd accused person, Enoch Badasu is a 26 years old labourer and resides at Official town.

Complainant has his shop at Ashaiman fitter-line and noticed that for some time now, thieves have been stealing from his shop.

The complainant later decided to fix a CCTV camera in the shop to monitor those responsible. The prosecutor recounted that on the 24/09/2022, complainant went to his shop and detected that thieves had made away with 1 electric motor of 50 HP valued at GHS7,000,1 Dron motor valued at GHS4,000, 1 Router valued at GHS 1,500, 1 Gear motor valued at GHS 3,000 and 1 Gear box valued at GHS1,500 totally GHS 17,000.

She said the complainant upon detecting that someone had entered the shop, went to play back his CCTV footage and the first accused person with the assistance of one other were captured using a big cutter to cut off complainant chain which was used to chain the items and made away with the items.

On 29 September, 2022, she recounted that Solomon Quinoo was arrested and brought to the Ashaiman District Police Office and a case was lodged against him.

A1 in his caution statement, admitted to the offence and mentioned A2(Enoch Badasu) as his accomplice.

A1 then led police to arrest A2 at the fitter-line. Both A1(Solomon Quinoo) and A2(Enoch Badasu) admitted to the offence and mentioned one Malik, a scrap dealer as the one they sold the said items to for an amount of GHS 850.00.

A1 led police to the scrap dealer(Malik) at fitter-line but met his absence. Efforts are underway to get the scrap dealer(Malik) arrested.

After investigations, the two were charged with the offences and put before this honourable court.
