The entire Okorase community in the Akuapem North Municipality in the Eastern Region of Ghana was sent to a state of mourning when a 7-Year-Old boy drowned in a Septic tank over a week ago was Buried yesterday, January 18, 2022.

The chaotic scenes began from the  Eastern Regional Hospital Mortuary when the seven (7)  year old pupil of High Mowing International School, who drowned in a school Tank last week, January 11, 2022, was been prepared to be buried.

The bereaved family, schoolmates, and sympathizers as well as the High Mowing International School staff thronged the premises of the mortuary to bid farewell to Raymond Opare- Ansah Offei.

It was a moment of sadness and mourning when the corpse was put in a casket for a brief burial service by Methodist Church where the little Offei fellowshipped.

Teaching and nonteaching staff performed an exercise to bid him farewell.

Ironically, some bereaved family members who were marveled by the untimely death nearly stopped the school from going on with the exercise.

Both father and mother of the deceased boy's parents could not control their tears as they cried uncontrollably when the corpse was being taken to the cemetery by the hearse.

 The foundation of the story.

The Seven (7) year old Pupil of High Mowing International School in Okorase, a suburban of Koforidua has drowned in a septic tank in the school.

The incident occurred Tuesday, January 11, 2022, during school hours.

The class three(3) pupil Raymond Opare- Ansah Offei, a twin, accidentally fell into an opened septic tank on campus at the school.

He was removed and rushed to the Eastern Regional Hospital but pronounced dead on arrival.

Management of the school immediately informed the father of the deceased.

The 40-year-old father, George Offei Opare, a driver who resides in Osabane accompanied by Dominic Mantey, a Businessman reported the incident to the Adweso District Police Command in Koforidua.

A team of police investigators was quickly dispatched to the school where management led by the proprietor Daniel Mantey and the school’s driver Adjei Ebenezer led police to the scene of the crime.

Police observed that the septic tank which is about 10feet deep was filled with water but not covered.

Police proceeded to the Eastern Regional Hospital to examine the body, adding that no marks of foul play were detected.

According to the Koforidua Police Command, the body of the deceased was deposited at the morgue and all the necessary autopsies were carried out by the delegated authorities which paved way for the burial.

The Eastern Regional Public Relations Officer of Ghana Police, DSP Ebenezer Tetteh who confirmed the sad incident to Soiree News when contacted indicated that the death of the young boy occurred last week, and all investigations into the cause of his death were successful.
