Willock's header relieves Newcastle from relegation threat; Newcastle 3-2 West Ham
Two of Joelinton's five Premier League goals for Newcastle have come in his last three appearances in the competition.
Substitute Joe Willock’s 82nd-minute header helped Newcastle United climb to 15th as they beat 10-man West Ham United 3-2 at St James’ Park.
Newcastle led on 36 minutes when Allan Saint-Maximin’s shot was turned into his own net by Issa Diop.
West Ham also had Craig Dawson sent off for a second yellow card after a foul in the build-up to the goal.
Newcastle doubled their lead before half-time when Lukasz Fabianski dropped Matt Ritchie’s corner and Joelinton converted.
West Ham pulled themselves level after the break with two quickfire goals. Diop headed in before Jesse Lingard converted a penalty with 10 minutes remaining.
Willock came off the bench to win it with his first touch to lift Newcastle to 35 points, nine clear of the bottom three.
A first defeat in four keeps West Ham fourth on 55 points but they can be overtaken by Chelsea when they meet next week.
