Upper East Regional Minister Welcomes Ambassador from Nigeria to Ghana, assures Safety of Nigerians

The Upper East Regional Minister, Honourable Stephen Yakubu assures the Nigerian High Commissioner, Mr Sylvanus Dauda that he is working to protect the Nigerian citizens in the Upper East Region to sustain the good relationship between Nigeria and Ghana.

The Upper East Regional Minister, Honourable Stephen Yakubu has assured all Nigerians residing in the region of absolute safety under the ECOWAS protocol.

“I want to assure you that we will not do anything at all to harm any Nigerian, my office is always open, come and let’s talk, there is no problem at all” he emphasized.

Hon. Yakubu made this comment when the representative of the Nigerian High Commissioner, Mr Sylvanus Dauda paid a courtesy call as part of his official visit to the Northern part of the country.

The Regional Minister, however, advised all Nigerians living in the country, especially in the Upper East Region to obey all the rules and regulations of the country.

He said the recent arrest made by the official of the Ghana Immigration Service involving some Nigerians was as a result of some internet fraud they engaged in and he mentioned Q-NET in particular. 

Hon. Yakubu touched on the good relationship between Nigeria and Ghana dating back to pre-colonial days as the two countries share so many things in common such as marriage, language and trade and urged the citizens of the countries to work and keep this divide intervention for generations yet unborn to enjoy. 

Mr Sylvanus Dauda lauded the effort of the Regional Minister is working to protect the Nigerian citizens in the Upper East Region and pleaded with him to do more in order to sustain the good relationship between the two nations.

According to him, the High commission receives information from time to time about how its citizen is being treated when they engaged in some fraudulent activities, therefore he pleaded that the commission is informed when such issues come up for amicable solution.
