It empathized on the fact that the NPP leadership in Parliament, the elected National officers and government are to take necessary steps to ensure that communicators who risk skin and teeth to protect the government are also protected against any deliberate and systemic intimidation from any quarters.

The preliminary charges levelled against Mr Baffoe are misdemeanors.

The preliminary charges leveled against Mr.Dafoe are a misdemeanor and Mr. Baffoe does not pose any flight risk so one wonders why the issue of detention must even come in.

The entire Bono Regional Communication team has learned with shock and utter disbelief, the high-handed manner in which the Accra Regional Command of the Ghana Police Service has treated Mr. Kwame Baffoe aka abronny DC, the Bono Regional Chairman of our great NPP party.

It will be recalled that there was a police-issued circular extending an invitation to Mr. Kwame Baffoe to avail himself to assist in investigations in an ongoing matter.
In a press statement signed by a Member of the Communications team of the National People’s Party (NPP) in the Bono region, Gabriel Korang-Abebio, has stated that as a law-abiding citizen as Mr. Baffoe is, he voluntarily went to the police as requested and had his statement taken as a normal procedure.

According to them, they picked signals of a seeming delay in processes which means that Mr. Baffoe would be detained in police custody.

“Is it a deliberate ploy to settle some score or to please some individuals hence the detention of Mr. Baffoe?”, it questioned.

“We call on the National leadership of our party led by Mr. Freddy Blay, Mr. John Boadu, the NPP legal team, and the entire National Communication outfit to register our displeasure with the avoidable turn of events”, it added.

“We ask the question that does the NPP care about its communicators and officers? Coming events they say, cast their shadows”, it explained.

However, the Communication team members are engulfed with an uneasy calm as they wonder if their party can protect them when trouble comes their way.

It further calls on the Ghana Police Service to show good faith and professionalism in their dealings as they are to act in the best interest of citizens.

They know of several members of the other side of the political divide who have made even worse statements conducive to the breach of public peace and yet are still walking freely, a typical example is the National Chairman of the NDC who was caught on tape calling his party members to act in ways that would make the nation ungovernable.

“Another example is the outlandish statements made by Honourable Lawyer Francis Xavier Sosu, which is a deliberate attack on our judiciary”, it says.

“These people and others are walking freely. Is selective justice at play here?”, it queried.

It empathized on the fact that the NPP leadership in Parliament, the elected National officers, and government are to take necessary steps to ensure that communicators who risk skin and teeth to protect the government are also protected against any deliberate and systemic intimidation from any quarters.

Mr. Kwame Baffoe has demonstrated over time that he is an avid defender of the truth and a Patriotic law-abiding citizen who will not be shaken or intimidated in any way, shape, or manner in his quest to advance the course of the NPP as it seeks to develop Ghana.

It finally stated that they solidarize with Mr. Kwame Baffoe and encourage him to keep the faith and the fire burning to intercept and reveal all the machinations and plots from the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) aimed at eroding any positive gains made by the NPP.
