Phenomenal artiste, Ceccy Twum has revealed that her husband, Prophet Alex Twum could not propose directly to her, instead, he told her mother about his intentions.

According to the gospel songstress, who has been married for an astonishing consecutive period of 21 years, she was still a teenager when her husband stated his desire to marry her.

This, she reckons was the reason he told her mother first because her mother directly had the final say over the whole issue since she was still too young to decide the matter for herself.

Ceccy Twum narrated this her interview on ‘Restoration with Stacy’.

“I married at age 19,” she said. “My husband and I were in the same church. I was a singer and hadn’t even prayed about marriage. My interest was in singing.”

“He didn’t talk to me about marriage. He rather told my mother. So I asked why he had to tell my mum when I’m the one he’d marry.”s

She admitted that his decision to liaise with her mother was the right one, as she immediately accepts him as a man of wisdom.

“I think the reason he rather told my mum was the fact that I was very young and so even if I say ‘yes’ to him, my mother would have the final say,” she remarked.

The musician then explained that her mother had to sit her down to counsel her on why she would want to marry early instead of waiting a little longer and “experience life”. She concluded that she just knew it was the right decision except that she never dreamt of marrying a man of God.

“I never thought of marrying a pastor. I didn’t want to be restricted; I wanted a free life. Till date, if you try to restrict me, I become worried. But my husband isn’t an oppressor. He gives me the room to operate; it’s been very helpful,” she noted.
