Implement Ayawaso West Wougon Commission recommendation, not John Mahama's congratulations-NDC slams Akufo Addo

National Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC), Johnson Aseidu Nketiah has called out to the President, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo to immediately implement recommendations of the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election violence.

The commission was set up by the president to investigate and make recommendations.

But while the same was done and concluded, the president is yet to implement the recommendations some of which were to punish the perpetrators and pay compensation to affected persons.

The NDC National Chairman stressed, "Akufo Addo should rather be implementing the recommendations of the Commission of Inquiry that interrogated the actors and victims of the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election violence; and not be worried over congratulations from our flagbearer".

He further added that the NDC will never allow the flag bearer, John Dramani Mahama to offer any congratulatory message to Akufo Addo.

He explained that that would amount to condoning the brutalities which claimed the lives of eight(8) innocent Ghanaians whose fault was to exercise the fundamental human right to vote and yet he has not made any public statement to appease the bereaved families.

Similarly, he mentioned that the president must only apologize to the people of Santrokofi, Akpafu, Likpe, and Lolobi(SALL) for denying them representation in parliament due to disenfranchisement during the 2020 election.

"Let me assure you we commemorate 31 years of the 1992 constitution that restored Ghana to Democratic governance-that, the next NDC government shall deliver justice to all the victims of this government's misrule", he declared.

"We shall go after the perpetrators who murdered the eight Ghanaians during the 2020 elections. We shall find perpetrators and we shall punish the perpetrators when we win power on December 7, 2024", he assures.

While appreciating invitations from Religious Leaders, Traditional Authorities, and Civil Society Organizations to participate in events and activities to promote peaceful elections, the NDC believes that the way to solve a problem is to deal with its causes.

The NDC is urging all voices of conscience to add their collective voices to the call that State institutions involved in the conduct of the 2024 elections approach their duties with professionalism, fairness, and, honesty while officials serving in those institutions are reminded of their oath of office which impose on them onerous responsibilities to secure and protect the interest of Mother Ghana.
