Traders, commuters and drivers who ply Pokuase-Amassama-Accra-Kumasi Road have commended President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for making efforts to commission the high-standard Pokuase Interchange on Friday, July 9.

According to them, they are full of praise for the President because the opening of the newly constructed Pokuase Interchange in the Greater Accra Region to the public would go along to improve the ease of vehicular traffic on the Pokuase- Amassama -Accra-Nsawam road.

The Friday’s ceremony by President Akufo-Addo was a formal gesture for him to officially open the four-tier interchange to traffic, which is the road from Awoshie to Accra, as well as the road from Kumasi to Awoshie.

The information available to Soireenews indicates that the officials of the Department of Urban Roads of the Ghana Highway Authority (GHA) have begun public sensitisation on the usage of the interchange.

The official work on the US$94.8 million interchanges began in 2017 was expected to ease vehicular traffic on the Accra to Nsawam highway.

The interchange connects Awoshie to Kwabenya, Kwabenya to Nsawam, Accra to Awoshie among others.

For his part, Resident Engineer of the interchange, Ing Kwabena Bempong, urged motorists to drive on the interchange with caution after it has been fully commissioned.

He also thanked the public for their cooperation during the construction.

It will be recalled that, with the project commencing in April 2018, and the interchange originally proposed as a 3-tier single-point urban interchange, the contractor, after undertaking a value engineering assessment, proposed to construct a 4-tier Stack Interchange, which was approved by the Ministry for Roads and Highways.
