Covid-19: FDA Registers 45 Companies to Produce Local PPEs

Ghana’s Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has so far registered 45 local companies to produce Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) to support the country’s fight against the covid-19 pandemic.

These companies have been greenlighted to produce homemade facemasks, gloves and face shields.

In the wake of the Coronavirus disease, the Ministry of Health (MoH) has directed the use of face masks in all public places where it may be difficult to maintain social distancing.

The MoH also recommended that Ghanaians use only FDA-approved masks.

The use of cloth face masks can slow the spread of the virus, and help people who may have the virus, but do not know, from transmitting it to others. In effect, they help us to be each other’s keeper as they reduce the chance of us unknowingly pass germs on to others.

There are three main types of face masks available offering different levels of protection: disposable surgical/medical, N95 masks and cloth masks.

Below is the list of the companies and their locations.
