The sanitation giant, Zoomlion Ghana Limited is embarking on a day disinfection and Fumigation exercise at some fifty (50) police facilities in the Bono Region.

The exercise which is scheduled for today February 9  is part of the government's effort to curtail the spread of the novel Pandemic.

Addressing the media, the Bono Regional Manager for Zoomlion, Mrs. Esther Abayita said her office has deployed a total of one hundred and twenty (120) officers from the National and the Regional to embark on the exercise.

She noted that the need has come for this exercise to be conducted since the police are the major stakeholders in ensuring the strict adherence of the Covid-19 safety protocols hence may be at risk of coming in contact with positive patients.

However, one police officer with the Bono Regional Police Command has succumbed to the virus.

Mrs. Abayita however used the opportunity to entreat the general public to strictly adhere to the safety protocols as the virus is real and has been claiming lives in the country and the world at large.

The country has recorded a total of 70, 046 cases of Covid-19 with a total of 63,502 recoveries and 44 deaths since the emergence of the virus in 2019.

Experts have been calling for another lockdown as the country risk succumbing to the virus. But the President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo in his 23rd address to the nation reintroduce the ban on funerals and weddings as part of a measure to maintain the spread of the virus. So far, a total of 9 cases have been recorded in three schools in the Bono Region.
