Yilo Krobo Residents of Kpanokle Appeals to Government to Complete a 17 Years Abandoned GETFUND School Project.

The residents of Kpanokle in the Yilo Krobo Municipality of the Eastern region have appealed to the government to come to their aid to complete a GETFUND school project which was started in 2005.

In an interview with one of the opinion leaders of the area, Mr...Teye Eric Botany noted that in005 the construction of the school building started, and it has been abandoned from there till now without completion.

According to him, the windows and doors of the school building have not been fixed to enable students to keep their educational materials and properties in the school which has compelled them to carry them to and fro every day for safe keep instead to have been kept in the school.

He added that the lack of doors and windows in the school has paved way for criminal activities to take place in the school after school and during class hours.

"After the contractor left the school over 17 years ago to some level, they have never returned to complete the building, windows, doors have not been done, there is no paint on the building and even some of the roofing sheets have ripped off forcing the students and teachers to close whenever there are rains since some of the classrooms roof leaks " Mr. Teye stated.

He stressed that the non-availability of water to the school also has forced students to hunt for water from a well at a far distance before they can get water in the school.

"The students have to come to this pipe for water far from the school and a long distance, there are a lot of cars and motorbikes plying the road and it is very risky for them, so the government should come to our aid " he added.

An old lady also said that the roads connecting to various market centers in the municipality and region are deplorable.

According to her, no vehicle can ply the road to convey their farm produce to market centers leaving their foodstuffs to rot.

She further urges the government, philanthropist, Non-Governmental Organisations, and others to consider their plight and come to their aid to help complete the abandoned school.
