A fully furnished 4-unit KG block has been handed over to the Yawhima Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Basic School by the Rotary Club, Sunyani Central and its international partners to enhance teaching and learning.

The 4-unit classroom block project which cost 59,696 USD equivalents to 342,420 GHS includes an office, 10 unit Microflush toilets, audiovisual materials among others.

Speaking at the commissioning and handing over ceremony at the school premises in Yawhima, the President for the Sunyani Central Rotary club, Rotarian Patricia Kwarteng explained that, the school called on the club to assist them to put up a block for the KG as they were learning under an unconducive structure which posed as a threat to the lives of those little ones.

According to her, upon visitation to the school, they realized how urgent the school needed the block and took steps to ensure they get one at the soonest time hence the new development.

Rotarian Patricia indicated that a WASH training and Training of teachers, Books based on current curricula were also conducted with support from the Sunyani Municipal Education Directorate to the teachers of the school by the club. The gesture was to enable teachers from the school to get in-depth knowledge to be able to impact the pupils.

She commended the Bono Regional Minister and the Sunyani Municipal Education Directorate for their support and supervision during the construction.

Rotarian Patricia Kwarteng however charged the people of Yawhima to adopt “Service above self” to help ginger development in the community. She called on the school authorities to ensure the maintenance culture on the facility.

On her part, the Sunyani Municipal Education Director, Mrs Theresah Kyereh commended the Rotary club for their commitment towards education in the directorate.

Receiving the project on behalf of the community and the school, the chief of Yawhima, Nana Kumi Ababio commended Rotary club for their kind gesture and called on them to bring more of such projects to the community.

He charged parents to adopt proper parental care to sustain the future of their children.
