The Municipal Chief Executive of Oforikrom Municipality, Hon. Gloria Temma Gambrah has disclosed that works on the construction of an Interchange in Oforikrom will soon commence to decrease vehicular traffic.

The Municipal is one of the 260 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in Ghana, and forms part of the 43 MMDAs in the Ashanti Region. It was carved out of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly as one of the 38 newly created and upgraded District Assemblies in 2018 with its capital as Oforikrom.

It has been prone to road congestion especially during daybreak and late afternoon. Drivers who ply on the road from Accra, Ejisu, and Tech succumb to the challenge as a result of demand for space greater than the available street capacity whiles others from Kejetia, Asafo and Amakom go through same.

According to Hon. Gambrah in a press briefing at the 'Meet the Press' program on Wednesday, November 6, 2019, the project will commence before the end of the year. Report gathered by SoireeNews reveals that, the Roads and Highway Authority have broadly covered measurements of the road intended to determine the condition of the interchange in order to provide important guidance before works begin.
