WMA support health center with roofing sheets

The Wenchi Municipal Assembly under the auspices of Honorable

Alexander Obour Damoah has donated 10 packets of roofing sheets to the Government Maternity Home at Kaamu a suburb of Wenchi in the Bono Region. 

Honorable Alexander Obour Damoah said the donation to the facility was in response to a humble plea by the facility authorities through the Assembly Member of the area Hon Francis Agyenantwi.

With regards to a number of situations that hinder progress of the work at the facility especially the leakage of the health center roof when it rained he said.

The items cost the Assembly a total sum of nine thousand and five hundred Ghana cedis (GH¢ 9,500) .

 The MCE reiterated that the items was purchased through the Assembly's Internally generated fun (IGF).

He also pledged to provide the facility with woods by the assembly to augment the project.

Receiving the items on behalf of the facility Ama Nyarko Kwarteng, the Midwife in charge at the Wenchi Government Maternity Home commended Hon Alexander Obour Damoah and the Assembly for fulfilling their promises, and said authorities and staff were overwhelmed with the gesture.


She ceased the opportunity to outlines some of services renders at the facility.

Among the services are Out Patient Department (OPD), Ante Natal Care (ANC), Delivery, Post Natal Care (PNC), Child Welfare Clinic, Family Planning, PMCTC/CT, Dispensary, School Health and Adolescent Corner.

Mrs Paulina Ayaaba, the Head of Administration at the Wenchi Municipal Health Directorate and also sub parent of the Government Maternity Home also thanked the MCE and appealed to other benevolent citizens who had health others at heart to consider the philanthropic step taken by the Wenchi Municipal Assembly to come to their aid to in helping better conditions of the facility to serve the people in the community and it environs.

Hon Francis Agyenantwi, the Assembly Member of the area also expressed his appreciation for the gesture and promise to make a good use of the items to serve it intended purpose.

The Wenchi Government Maternity Home is established in 1969 by the late Nana Afia Frema Taatuo the then Queen Mother of Wenchi Traditional Area as a private health facility and was later hand over to Government.

The facility which was established in the year 1969 have seen no renovation and a proper facelift.
