It was reported two days ago on the 6th of July, 2020, that the flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress, John Dramani Mahama had finally settled on former Minister of Education, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang as his running mate for the upcoming 2020 general elections.

Award-winning Ghanaian filmmaker, Yvonne Nelson, was quick to endorse the choice of ex-President John Dramani Mahama’s for a running mate on Twitter a few hours after it was announced on Monday. The filmmaker maintained that as long as the chosen running mate would put Ghanaians first, problems would not arise later in the future.

On announcing Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang as his running mate for the upcoming presidential election, Mahama enthusiastically revealed his admiration for her on his social media page.

“The @OfficialNDCGh, this afternoon, unanimously, endorsed my nomination of Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang as my Running Mate for the December 2020 election. She is God-fearing, a distinguished scholar, a conscientious public servant & a role model.” he wrote.

Yvonne Nelson, who admitted that she knew the choice to appoint Naana Jane was a strategic one, advised her to not get carried away eventually. She backed the decision by saying that women can also deliver and serve people right.

"Prof, I love this…WOMEN can deliver and serve your people right. We know its strategic, yeaa, we only need leaders who will put GHANAIANS first, do this and don’t be carried away like they all do when they win. All the best!” She wrote on Twitter.
