Western Togoland Citizens On Remand Appeals For Fair Trial
The forty-six (46) members of the Western Togoland citizens on remand at the Nsawam Medium Security Prison have made a passionate appeal to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to ensure fairness on the ongoing trial of the court case against them.

They also pleaded with President Akufo-Addo to institute human centered measures to ensure that they were granted bail.
According to them, President Akufo-Addo should take a second look at the prohibited organisation charge preferred against them which was under Ignatius Kutu Acheampong’s regime in 1976.
They argued that the 1992 Constitution of the Republic of Ghana has superseded that military regime decree of the former head of State Ignatius Kutu Acheampong.

We need not to dig deep into the annals of history to ascertain and be informed that New Patriotic Party (NPP) has always seen the people of Volta Region as lesser Ghana or to put it simple, are not Ghanaians.

There several high profile individuals in NPP and in President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo led NPP government who have authored various statement that turned to undermine the security and peace Ghanaians enjoys.
Prominent among them are NPP The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Assin Central Constituency in the Central Region, Mr Kennedy Ohene Agyapong and the current Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr. Simon Osei-Mensah
History has it that, Even United Nation (UN) has not resolved the concerns of the Western Togoland people and there are a number of UN resolutions that lay credence to this fact of the core demands of the WESTERN TOGOLAND PEOPLE.
UN resolution 944(x) of 1955, resolution 1044(xi) of 1956, UN charter, article 75 of 1945 and UN trusteeship agreement of 1946.
The failure of successive government to resolve these concerns are culminated into this current challenge Ghana is confronted with.
In view of the search for the single blow that would destabilize the National Democratic Congress (NDC) fortunes in election, President Akufo-Addo led government being orchestrated by National security apparatus came up with the idea to terrorist the people of the Volta Region by using the Western Togoland people as a scapegoat to advance their quest to maintain power in the 2020 general elections.
They came up with various charges against these duly registered Group called Western Togoland after arresting them in the early months of 2020.
Even though National Security Minister, Mr Albert Kan Dapaah labelled them as separatist, terrorist and other names, they were secretly having meetings with their leaders both Home and abroad and even sponsoring their activities to destabilize the Volta Region to reduce the election fortunes of NDC.
Nana Addo Government finally drop all these charges and charged them with the offence of being in a prohibited organization. An organisation that was incorporated in 2019 under the laws of Ghana.
They killed several of them, maimed others and kept some of them in the Nsawam prison for more than two years for the offence of a misdemeanour.
After achieving their goal of rigging the last election, they are now trying to grant the western Togoland people their request to make sure that the NDC never came back to power.
All these violations of the group fundamental human rights are happening under the spotlight of all Ghanaians, as though the country laws doesn't work.
If the Nana Akufo-Addo led government think these group have no locus, why are they holding several secret meetings with them?
Time they say will speak up and expose this government one day and if civil society keep mute because they are not concerns, one day the table will turn.
