Wenchi: Timber Merchant wins NDC constituency elections

He explained that his aim of standing for the Chairmanship was to unite the party when he was going round

Delegates of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Wenchi Constituency in the Bono Region on Saturday 22nd October 2022 elected new executives into the office to man the affairs of the party for the next four years.

The elections which were organized by the Electoral Commission saw Mr. Asomah Mohammed, a Timber Merchant elected as the Constituency Chairman of the party after beating the incumbent Chairman Hon Sina Shehu Wahab.

Mr. Ansomah Mohammed who is also the former constituency Chairman from 2010 to 2014 obtain 657 votes.

Nana Kwame Atuahene was eliminated from the Youth Organizer position to Vice Chairman position Hon Suleman Al-Hassan and Uthman Yakubu Bamba retained their seats as the Secretary and  Deputy constituency  Secretary respectively.

The other executives that were elected into office included Suleman Mohammed-Organizer, Mahama Moro- Deputy Organizer, Gloria Gyamfi Opoku Treasurer, Jamilatu Shiela Ibrahim Deputy Treasurer, Seth Kobins Communications Officer, Ahmed Yahaya Deputy Communications officer, Fosuhemaa Agyapong Women Organizer, Mariama Adam-Deputy Women Organizer, Asaase Desmond Youth Organizer, Mustapha Billal Deputy Youth Organizer, Alhassan Issah one Youth representative went unopposed, Yussif Abubakri Zongo Caucus Coordinator.

The following personalities were elected to occupy the office of other executives and members of the party
Addo Kwabena, William A. Di Mebka, Tieyiri Cosmos Goodman, Osman Abdulai, Tangba Kuyab, Sophia Owusu, Yelekoro Peter Chottah, and Wahab Abdul Hamid.

Mr. Owusu Nuamah Patrick, the Returning Officer of the Electoral Commission announced. 

The newly elected Constituency Chairman thanked the delegates for the confidence reposed in them and pledged to work tirelessly with the other officers including the outgoing officers to unite the party to enable them to retain the Parliamentary seat and recapture the Presidential seat in the 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

He explained that his aim in standing for the Chairmanship was to unite the party when he was going around.

That was my message, now that I have been given the nod I would bring all people within the party together including all the other contestants to ensure we share the same vision he emphasized.
