Wenchi: 11 candidates absent for BECE exams  on day one

11 students in the Wenchi Municipality of the Bono Region have failed to make themselves available for the ongoing 2022 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) centers in the Wenchi Municipality of the Bono Regio

The absentees made up of 7 boys and 4 girl

Mr. Seth Mensah, the Wenchi Municipal Examination Coordinator disclosed this in an interview with Wenchi-based Radio West Africa Bono Regional town of Wench and monitored by soireenews.com

Out of the 11 absentees, one girl from Kwaku Manu Roman Catholic Junior High School reported dead two weeks before the exams after a short illness

He explained that two of the absentee's girls were pregnant and were feeling shy to write the exams

Day one of the exams was conducted very successfully and I believe it will continue to the end of the examination he explained. 

A total of 20,85 candidates were expected to write the exams across nine centers in the Wenchi Municipality

Meanwhile, 20,148 candidates were able to make themselves available for the BECE on day one of the exams.

The examination coordinator further explained that this year has seen a reduction in school dropouts as compared to the last year 2021.

We have two pregnant candidates who are also writing the exams and fortunately one of them gave birth after writing her paper two  Mr. Seth Mensah added.
