We'll continue to oppose the Government E-Levy Policy - NDC's Jinapor

The Member of Parliament for Yapei constituency and Former Deputy Energy Minister under the Mahama lead NDC administration, Hon. John Abdullai Jinapor says the Minority caucus in Parliament will forever oppose the newly introduced E-levy.

We'll continue to oppose the Government E-Levy Policy - NDC's Jinapor

According to him, they are opposed to the policy because of the ordinary Ghanaians and that this is not the right time to introduce such taxation.

Mr Jinapor said, instead of the government promoting E-transaction in these difficult times of covid, it rather wants to kill peoples businesses through policy.

Comparing Ghana's E-levy to some other African countries, he said, Cote D'Ivoire charge  0.50% Kenya charges 10%, Tanzania 10%, Zimbabwe charge 0.50%, etc all on the fees charged by their telecos but why is this Ghanaian government charging the sender 1.75% and not on the fees charged by the telecos.

He made this during the minority get together at the capital of the nation over the weekend.

"We will strongly oppose the E-levy today, tomorrow and every day and we are fighting for the ordinary Ghanaian, the market men and women, and the entire citizenry". Honourable Abdullai Jinapor said.
