A call has been made to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to ensure that the necessary business operating licenses are granting to the Empire Cement Factory in the Weija-Gbawe Municipality of the Greater Accra Ghana.

According to the chiefs, traditional office holders, queen-mothers and people of Weija Gbawe, the management of the company in their consultation had told them it has finished the construction of the factory for the past two years and awaiting the government to grant the necessary business licenses to start full commercial operations.
They were of the firm opinion that there are clear envidences that some self seeking elements in the area are sabotaging the factory and called on President Akufo-Addo to swiftly intervene.

At a crowded press conference in Accra on Thursday September 29, 2022, which was addressed by the President of Cumulative Residents Association of West McCarthy Hill in Weija-Gbawe, Mr Kweku Danso on behalf of the residents stated that the delay in part of the government to give business operatiing licenses are adversely contributing to the massive youth unemployment in municipality.

In this sense, the the traditional authorities (Nananom), residents and the youths clad in red bands appealed to the government and Weija-Gbawe Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mr. Patrick Kwasi Brako Kumor to commission the factory.

They stated that the operation of the factory would and directly employ thirteen thousand (13,000) workers, since cement factory is under the One District One Factory (1D1F) flagship programme of the government.

The Empire Cement Factory Limited, a Ghanaian/ Chinese partnership and it has been for the past tow years ago.
