Creative Director of KOFAS Media, Kofi Asamoah has professed that the misuse of the advancements in technology is one of the major root cause of the problems plaguing the movie industry in Ghana.

He stated that the technology itself is not the problem but rather it's inappropriate use by the key industry players is the reason why the industry seems to have been left behind.

He admonished all stakeholders in the movie industry to understand the current trends so they can flow in tandem with the available technology to use them for profit instead of loss. He stated that learning how to simultaneously manage the use of cinemas and technology would be key to reviving the Movie industry in Ghana.

“Technology is being helpful but if we don’t manage it well, we will lose our movie industry. We can do proper promotion and make a lot of money out of movie premiers and by taking advantage of technology. We lose money by placing movies on YouTube right after production,” he made this known on Happy98.9FM’s ‘Showbiz Xtra’ with Doctar Cann.

He advised movie producers to stop uploading their movies to online platforms immediately after production, as the aim of making the movies is to make profit. Since consumers already see it on the platforms, they do not need to pay to get the movies.

He sadly noted that cinemas and theatres will keep on being repurposed into churches, banks and super markets if movie producers do not change their behavior. The movie producer called on all his colleagues to come on board and make the industry great again by using technology appropriately.
