The latest fare increment proposed by true drivers and concerned drivers union has brought a lot of controversies between drivers themselves and passengers.

Meanwhile, Some drivers in Obuasi have embraced the proposed 40 percent fare increment which is expected to kick off today.
 
In an interview with soireenews Yaw Opoku, the drivers say, although they are happy concerning the step by their leaders, they still want the government to reduce fuel prices drastically.

They explained that fare increment affects all hence there is the need for government to reduce fuel prices.

Some drivers who drive from Obuasi to Amankyem, Tutuka, Brahabébome, and some communities in Obuasi and its environs reiterated that it is time the government reduces fuel prices to ease the hardship on Ghanaians.

We are drivers alright but for Instance, if we are to go to Kumasi for personal duties without our cars we will pay lorry fare which affects us directly when fuel prices are increased the drivers said.

Some drivers who work under the GPRTU are unaware of the proposed fair increment.

Appiah, a driver,  who drives from Obuasi to Akrofuom wants the government to make an official announcement whenever there is an increment in fuel prices.
