A Senior Regulatory Officer of Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) in the Oti and Volta Region Mr. Elorm Dordor Yao has asked the general public to help the authority fight against unauthorized food on the Ghanaian market.

Speaking on a Ho Based Kekeli radio morning show chaired by Solomon Mensah Ahiable, Mr. Dordor said, there are a lot of food items in the market that have not been approved by the FDA.

He said these food items can be very dangerous for human consumption and may even kill since many of them contain toxic substances.

He revealed that the illegal manufacturers do that for their personal gains.

However, the FDA is unable to fight the perpetrators who manufacture those foods due to noncooperation from the public.

According to him, FDA is ready to protect Public health therefore people with information concerning bad food practices that will endanger the lives of the Ghanaian should not hesitate to report to the FDA.

He reechoed that strong cooperation between the general public and FDA will intensify the fight against unapproved food in the country.

He advised that the public should thoroughly examine the food items they buy from the market before consumption since they can be poisonous.

Mr. Dordor reiterated that the public should report any toxic or unapproved food they will see on the market to the FDA
