The Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Simon Osei Mensah has proposed that the rich culture of Asante must be portrayed by inhabitants to promote the royal legacy ahead of the Independence Day Celebration at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

He explained that inhabitants must clad themselves in the rich Kente and traditional clothings three days to the event given that the entire world’s focus will be on ‘Oseikrom’ as Ghana marks its 63rd year as a self governing nation.

“We must clad ourselves in the possessions of Asantes and be unique. The adinkra symbols in clothes and the rich Bonwire Kente must be showcased to depict our origin as Asantes,” he said.

Hon. Simon Osei Mensah addressed the press and stakeholders at the Regional Coordinating Council ahead of the 63rd Independence Day celebration with series of action-packed programmes line up for the occasion and make it a notable one.

He disclosed that the various Assemblies in the Ashanti Region would embark on a cleanup exercise at some major areas of great concern to keep tidy the city towards the observance especially the principal roads and streets that leads into the Ashanti Region.

“There will be a clean up exercise and every Assembly will take part of the activity. My plea is, although every part of the city is central yet we must focus on the streets and main roads that leads people into the capital city -talk of the Accra Road, Sunyani, Mampong, Techiman and a few to mention. Let’s make sure to keep the place tidy ahead of the National event.

On the day of the program, the Ashanti Regional Minister called on the need for stakeholders to stay punctual and avoid any further delays on the day of the parade.
