Diego Simeone says his players gave their all to advance to the semi-finals of the Champions League tie against RB Leipzig but it just was not their game on the night.

The manager believes the German club comprehended to Atletico’s game plan and worked it out very well to their advantage.

“They won the duels, they won the fouls, they won at understanding the game," Simeone said at full time.

"We struggled to get into the game.

"Maybe when they made it 2-1 after we'd got back to 1-1, was when the game was the calmest.

"We'd got through that phase where they were better and the second goal appeared in a game in which we couldn't play how we wanted to.
