We Can No Longer Entertain Roads And Highways Minister - SMCA Workers
The personnel of Single Man Contractor Association (SMCA) have agreed to protest for the payment of their thirty-six-month’s unpaid salary arrears until their last drop.
The aggrieved workers have declared not to entertain the Roads and Highways Minister, Hon Kwasi Amoako Atta, since he seems unperturbed about their deadlocks.
Speaking in an interview with the press, they expressed unequivocally certainly that they doubt the Ministry has exploited their salaries for treasure bills.
According to association’s organiser, Mr John Atta Asem, the poor treatment by the Roads Minister has pushed them to secure permit from the police to protest against the government.
“We don’t hate the government, but we won’t rest until we get our arrears paid. We shall embark on a massive demonstration on the 6th December to aggressively demand for the payment of our arrears. We suspect foul play over the delay in payment of our arrears,” he viewed.
The aggrieved workers who were contracted as labourers to weed along the various roads in the country have pleaded with the government as a matter of importance to quicken the process of paying their arrears.
“We have families to feed. Our wives have divorced us because of the hardships. Some of our members have committed suicide over the disastrous situation. Truly we are calling on the Civil Societies Organisations and others to add their voices to our plea.” they re-emphasized.
