Mrs. Yaa Kumi Yeboah, Public Relations Officer of Sunyani Municipal Education Directorate, has said the office is yet to receive an official letter from Bono Regional Health Directorate confirming cases of COVID-19 in some schools in the Municipality.

Nine cases of COVID 19 have been recorded at a College of Education and two Senior High Schools in the region since the re-opening of schools.

Dr. John Ekow Otoo, Deputy Bono Regional Director of Ghana Health Service (GHS) in-charge of Public Health, confirmed this to Soiree News 24 on Thursday, February 4, 2021, in Sunyani.

He said eight of the affected students are in institutions in Dormaa West and Dormaa East Districts and the remaining ones in a school in Sunyani Municipality.

Dr. Otoo disclosed that all the students are in stable conditions, adding, the boarding students among them were quarantined within the school environment and the day students in their homes.

He said contacts were identified among students and staff of the schools and samples taken for testing.

Mrs. Yeboah in reaction affirmed her office was not officially aware of the recording of a case in an institution in Sunyani Municipality
