Self Love Foundation, an organization whose aim is to protect the girl child to reach her goal in marking this year's Menstrual hygiene day have expressed concern at the rising cases of rape in the Obuasi Municipality.

The Foundation on Friday, May 28, 2021, engaged with some schools within the Obuasi municipality including Awurade basa, Einifel school, Anyinam Methodist Jhs, Stadium Presby school and ST Thomas R/C school to educate girls on menstrual hygiene.

The Self-Love foundation executive president, Hillary Ekuoba Gyasi revealed that the aim of the interaction was to educate the girls on how adolescent girls can use a clean menstrual management material to absorb or collect blood that can be changed in privacy as often as necessary for the duration of the menstruation period.

She further said the organization is much impressed with the girls' commitment and readiness to learn.

Mrs Hannah Sarpong, who's the legal resource person for the organization expressed worry at the growing Spate rape in Obuasi.

She said the major challenge that Obuasi is facing currently is the district court not being vibrant due to lack of resources and called on the government to as a matter of urgency provide whatever is needed by the court so it can start to prosecute serial rapist.

Cassandra Hawkins, the guest speaker of honour the program was quite impressed after her engagement and few minutes interactions with the girls.

She promised to collaborate with the "Self-love foundation" to make sure the education system in Obuasi works to perfection for the girl child in Obuasi.
