Some residents of Offuman in the Techiman North District of the Bono East region has debunked claims suggesting insecurity in the community due to marketing activities.

It is believed that, after the yam harvest, some of the harvests must be sent to the shrine of the god of the land "Nyansuo"  for purification before the yam can be sold or eaten.

This tradition they say has been in existence since time memorial and it's been performed by the "Nyasuo family".

It was alleged that some section of the community prevented the "Nyasuo family" from performing the rituals which led to some misunderstandings and eventually preventing marketing activities in the Offuman Yam Market.

But speaking with some members of the "Nyasuo family", they disclosed that, the earlier reports of conflict in the market are false and should be treated with the contempt it deserves.

"You can see people are selling yams while others are also buying, marketing activities are ongoing and it will continue tomorrow"

"We are selling the yams because we the Nyasuo family have already sent some of the yams to Nyasuo for purification and tradition and custom gives us the right to sell yams in the market after the purification and as you can see, there is no conflict or tension in the market as marketing activities are ongoing peacefully". They told our reporters Sikahemaa.

The "Nyasuo family" urged all traders involved in the yam business to feel free and visit the Offuman Yam Market because the town is as peaceful as ever.
