Ronald Koeman has commended his squad for their interminable mindset towards the Cope del Rey semifinal second leg against nine-man Sevilla.

Ousmane Dembele halved the visitors aggregate in the 12-minute before Gerard Pique forced the game into extra time after he redirected Griezmann’s cross into net via header. The hosts had earlier been saved goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen, who smothered a spot-kick taken by Ocampos that could have sailed Sevilla with Fernando red-carded a minute before Barca’s leveller.

Braithwaite finally made it count for the Catalan club when he made it 3-2 on aggregate after heading in a Jordi Alba cross before the visitors lost Luuk de Jong in the 103-minute.

"We always believed," Koeman said at full time. "We never gave up on the Copa. It's a question of mentality.

The mentality was appreciated by Ronald Koeman, describing his team as the better one over the two legs.

"I, as a coach, can't ask my team to do more than what I've seen tonight. We fought until extra time and it's incredible. I'm very happy with the team's work tonight.

"We deserved to go through. I think we were better over the two legs. We were the best team."

The manager told that same formation was used four days ago in the La Liga when they won by 2-0 at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, a game which boosted their confidence.

"It was very important for our confidence," Koeman said on the win in Seville.

"The way in which we played there. It was our first game [with 3-5-2]. We tried to play the same game today and we did it.

"We managed to score three goals and could've scored more. You can't ask for more."
