The Crime Officer, Real Metew, says the police are now dealing with two cases the alleged rape case and the assaulted case been filed by the suspected rapists who alleged that the three teachers of the school assaulted him when he was arrested.

Students of the Wa Islamic Girls Senior High School besieged the Regional Police headquarters on Monday evening June 21, 2021, demanding the release of their teachers who were arrested by the police for an alleged assault of a young man.

The young man who was allegedly assaulted was caught reportedly trying to rape one of the students on campus.

According to reports, the suspected rapist was identified by the students a day after the attempted rape and was arrested and handed over to the police.

After he was released on police enquiry bail, the suspect only identified as Sharon also reported to the police that he was assaulted by some of the teachers of the school leading to the arrest of the pinpointed teachers.

The students who besieged the regional police headquarters formed a solidarity force demanding the release of the three teachers wore their school uniforms chanting “we want justice! We want justice!!”.

The police in their bid to respond led to a confrontation between them and the students and four of the girls were arrested and later released.

According to the Upper West Regional Crime officer, Real Metew the four students that were arrested by the police as of the time the confrontation ensued, were only sent to the station to ensure calmness. He stressed that the teachers too have been released on police inquiry bail.
