An aspiring Presidential candidate of the largest opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Dr.Kwabena Duffuor has vowed to bring back the party to political corridors when giving the chance to lead the party.
The former Minister of Finance and Economic Planning is of the strong conviction is not only politically experienced but a unifier with the ability to galvanize all ranks and file of the party to victory come 2024.
The former Minister of Finance is of the view that the current economic challenges is not enough evidence to wrestle power from the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) rather unity with a common purpose.
To this, he urged those seeking for various positions in the party to do so with decorum devoid of insults and attacks on opponents since the party would have to spend more on damage controls that it would positively project the party.
The NDC presidential hopeful made the remarks in a statement to congratulate the newly elected Eastern Regional executives.
The soft-spoken business mogul assured the newly elected Eastern Regional executives of his commitment and readiness to work closely with them to champion the course of the NDC not only in the region but to bring the party back to power.
"Congratulations to the all winners in the Eastern Regional executives election of the NDC, l appreciate your support for these years, with unity of purpose, victory 2024 is possible," 
He called on those who lose in the elections to support the winning candidates to ensure that the party will go into the 2024 election in one piece, united in strength to deliver victory for the party.
He disclosed that the processes leading to the internal elections are critical for the party to win the 2024 election, hence the need for cohesiveness and unity to help the party to recapture power.
He said Ghanaians were suffering and yearning for the NDC to save them from the bad economic policies of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government as he assures Ghanaians of an NDC government of good governance policies, pro-poor policies to alleviate the difficulties and stabilize the economy for businesses to thrive.
In a related development, the newly elected NDC Eastern Regional chairman Dr. Mark Oliver Kevor charged all rank and file of the party to put the interest of the party first in achieving victory come 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections.
The newly elected chairman who is the immediate past Eastern Regional Secretary of the party invoke the spirit of party members to direct their “weapon of destruction” towards their greatest political enemy , the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and not against each other.
The young man, a lecturer at Abetifi based Presbyterian University and a former board member of the National Communications Authority and a member of the UN Group of Government Experts in Cybersecurity made the remarks on Saturday shortly after the party’s regional delegates’ conference in Koforidua.
The relatively intelligent Telecommunications and Information Security lecturer hinted that it was surprising that delegates voted for him and other executives to lead the party come 2024 but they (delegates) have strong conviction of their (executives) capabilities.
To this, he entreated the newly elected executives to repose the confidence of party members in galvanizing massive votes for the party and by extension winning the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections.
He urged media practitioners particularly those in the region to be circumspect in their reportage, leading to reporting and writing nothing but the truth.
Kevor who teaches a number of Telecommunications and Information Security related courses and beat stiff competition from four other aspirants including the incumbent chairman John Owusu Amankra, the vice chairman, William Atamudzi, a former Chairman, Bismarck Tawiah Boateng and Basil Ahiable is expected to lead the party as its Chairman in the region for the next four years.
For the First Vice Chairmanship position, Ransford Owusu Boakye, a former Regional Organizer shocked 4 other aspirants including Alhaji Ahmed Ibrahim, David Tettey, Richard Norgbodzi and Adu Stella Obeng.
The incumbent Eastern Regional Secretary Cudjoe Adukpo failed in his bid to retain his position, whilst a former Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Upper West Akyem George Mensah Akpalu and Nenebi Tettey Akomey were taught some political lessons by Baba Jamal Konneh a former regional director of elections
The National Communications Director of the NDC, Sammy Gyamfi who administered and ushered the new officers into office charged them to work hard and put the interest of the party first in achieving victory in the next elections.
Mark Oliver Kevor addressing the delegates indicated that “the focus of the party now is to unite and wrestle power from the governing New Patriotic Party come December 2024.
