Video Exposes Destooled Omanhene Of Gomoa Akyempim Obrifo Ahunako Ahor Ankobia Of Engaging In Illegalities
The widely circulated video shows the customarily destooled Omanhene (Paramount Chief) of the Gomoa Akyempim Traditional Area, Obrifo Ahunako Ahor Ankobia II swearing in assistant chiefs to divisional leadership positions under what he describes as “Ahenfo Kuma.”

This practice, however, has been identified as inconsistent with the customs and traditions of the Gomoa people, sparking widespread controversy.
Following his destoolment by the Kingmakers, Elders, and Divisional Chiefs, led by the Omanhemaa (Paramount Queenmother) of the area, Obaatanpa Ama Eduwa I, questions have arisen regarding the former Omanhene’s authority to carry out such actions.
These acts are being widely interpreted as defiance of traditional authority, attracting both public criticism and potential legal challenges.
Legal experts emphasize that a destooled chief is prohibited from exercising authority until the destoolment is formally recognized by the House of Chiefs.
Any actions undertaken during this interim period are deemed legally invalid and may constitute a violation of due process, potentially amounting to contempt.
Such acts threaten the integrity of Akyempim’s traditional governance structures and undermine the legitimacy of its customary practices.
