The Vice President of Ghana, Dr Alhaji Muhamadu Bawumia on Tuesday, October 13, 2020, cut sod at Bonwire in the Ashanti Region for the commencement of the Kente museum.

The Museum will bear the artistic, cultural, historical and traditional details of the rich Kente fabrics for local and foreign interest. It will also help the youth to be familiar with the rich Asante history, culture, civilization and art regarding the Kente cloth.

Speaking at the event, the vice president told that it’s the first time in history for Bonwire to have a museum to showcase Ghana and the rich culture of Asante to the world, a step that will help exhibit original Kente production to allow visitors the chance to experience the works of investors.

He compared the two giant political parties in Ghana in terms of better policy implementation and concluded that NPP is far ahead than the opposition when it comes to programs that will benefit the country.

“It’s the first time in history that a Kente Museum has been opened in Bonwire,” he said.

“This project was very demanding and no other political party could do other than the New Patriotic Party.

“The way we are managing the country as compared to the time of the NDC is very different. During President Kufuor’s time, there were so many executions he is remembered for until now. There is none the NDC did when they assumed office.

“President Akufo Addo is known for so many of these policies for a better Ghanaians; talk of the Free SHS, 1Village 1Dam, 1costituency, 1million, NABCO and many others.”

He emphasized that in addition to making Bonwire superior there is the need to get integrated community industrial development which includes technical vocational Kente weaving institution to raise the standard of living of the people and to train others as well.

He assured that soon the incorporation will be invested to make the Kente trade an executive one for the betterment of Asanteman.

“Today’s project is solely to elevate the Bonwire Kente trade. The Yarn factory is part of our plans but before there can be an integration, the Technical Vocation Kente Weaving Institution must be established as a tertiary institution to affect the Museum. Its establishment will uplift the status of Bonwire and empower our youth through job opportunities.”

He called on the gathering to support the NPP to win the upcoming elections to continue moving Ghana forward. He further assured that Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo on November 5, will cut the sod for works at the Boankra Inland Port to begin.

“Support us to win 99 per cent of the votes and keep the NPP active. We need four more years to do more for Ghanaians. Our implementation shows how the NPP wants to develop the Ashanti Region.”
