Raphael Varane will be missing in action against Liverpool on Tuesday night.

The Reds clash with Los Blancos at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano in the first leg of the Champions League and the defender has been ruled out for testing positive for covid-19.

“Real Madrid C. F. informs that our player Raphaël Varane tested positive in the COVID-19 test he underwent this morning,” the club revealed in a statement on Tuesday.

the Frenchman’s absence means the first choice center-backs of Real Madrid are absent and Zidane will have to turn to Militão's time to shine.

Sergio Ramos was earlier ruled out due to a calf injury at training and it is reported he will be out for a month.

“After the tests carried out today on our captain Sergio Ramos by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he was diagnosed with a muscle injury in the internal twin of his left leg. Pending evolution,” the statement said.
