UTAG WILL REDRAW ALL TEACHING AND RELATED ACTIVITIES ON 10TH JANUARY, 2022.

The National Executive Committee (NEC) of UTAG conducted an emergency meeting on Tuesday, December 21, 2021, to evaluate and examine the response of the Chief Executive of the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) to the letter dated November 11, 2021 with reference number UTAG/NAT/2021/EM-002.

The letter primarily requested a copy of the 2021 Labor Market Survey (LMS) report and stressed the need for agreed-upon dates for the LMS's implementation to be followed.

Unfortunately, the UTAG NEC has yet to obtain a copy of the FWSC's 2021 Labor Market Survey (LMS) Report, despite the fact that the LMS began in mid-2019.

Members took issue with the FWSC's reaction, which implied a refusal to disclose a copy of the report to UTAG for the study, allowing us to decide our next course of action.

In a press statement signed by the National President, Professor Solomon Nunoo, the refusal to provide the report only helps to cement the perception of a lack of trust that has characterized their discussions this far.

"The UTAG NEC resolved that if the Employer fails to comply to the established timetables, UTAG will be forced to withdraw teaching and related operations, effective Monday, January 10, 2022," it adds.

"As a result, we are requesting that the Employer take the necessary steps to ensure industrial harmony on the campuses of our Public Universities," it continued.

The UTAG NEC also appeals to all University Teachers in Ghana to remain calm and unified in their fight for better working conditions for their members.
