UPDATE ON THE PILES UP MOTOR CRASH ON THE MOTORWAY

Reference to the public notice of a piled-up motor crash on the motorway involving a gas tanker, an articulated truck and a rigid cargo truck, between the Shopping Mall and the tollbooth, Tema bound; the vehicles have been removed allowing police to open the road to normal traffic flow. 

Thus, the Police Service wishes to thank all motorists who ply the Tema - N1 highway for their patience during the roadblock, as well as Ghana National Fire Service and Road Safety Management Service Limited crew for their quick responses to assist in securing the hazardous material and removing the vehicles respectively. 

Meanwhile,  hand-loaded articulated vehicle drivers and those carrying hazardous goods are cautioned to always ensure their vehicles are roadworthy, securely loaded, and use appropriate lanes with moderate speeds on our highways.

There is a piled up motor crash on the motorway between Shopping Mall and the toll booth, Tema bound, involving a gas tanker, an articulated truck and a rigid cargo truck, leaving only a single lane for motorists proceeding on the N1 to Tema.

Airport MTTD Officers are at the scene directing, controlling and managing traffic.

The Ghana National Fire Service team are also at the scene supporting the safe recovery of the hazardous materials involved.

The Police have also Commandeered the Road Safety Management Services Limited crew to assist in removing the vehicles from the scene with their recovery truck.

As a result, we entreat all Tema bound approaching motorists to drive cautiously or use the Spintex road and the Beach road to connect the N1 at Tema motorway interchange.
