Unemployed 26, found guilty on multiple charges of robbery 

An Ashaiman Circuit Court within the Ashaiman Municipality of the Greater Accra Region has found an a-26-year-old unemployed man on multiple counts of robbery, contrary to section 149 of the criminal offenses Act 1960(Act 29).

Presided over by His Honour Richard Delali Anku after a thorough review of the case juxtapositing with the charges, directed that the charges be reviewed to include conspiracy to commit robbery.

Prosecuting, presenting the brief fact of the case, Chief Inspector B. Musah briefed the court that the complainants in the case are petty traders who reside at Seputey Cottage near Agomeda with their husbands who are also herdsmen while the accused person  Abubakari Seidu age 26 is unemployed and resides at Amrahia.

He said on July 24, 2022, at about 11:30 pm whilst the complainant was sleeping, some young men numbering 12 who had offensive weapons namely cutlass,gun, and stick which they used to attack and assaulted one Godfred and shot another, Shaibu Larnuel in the neck we rushed to the hospital for treatment.

He said the robbers took away victim  Alima Osman's Itel mobile phone valued at GHS120.00 and cash of GHS250.00, Salamatu Osman's Itel mobile valued at GHS80, Gabriel Larnuel's Itel A56 Android mobile valued at GHS600.

He said the gang of robbers also took a  blue Royal motorcycle with registration number M-18-ER500 valued at GHS7,500, a Nokia smartphone valued at GHS700, a single barrel short gun valued at GHS4000, and a cash sum of GHS260 all to the sum of GHS13,510.
He recounted that night, the Dodowa Police Patrol team arrived at the scene but did not meet the suspects.
However, he said while they were on their way back to Dodowa and upon reaching the Ayikuma Gas Filling station area, they spotted three young men who emerged from the bush, stopping a car but when they saw that the car was a police vehicle, they started to run back into the bush.

He noted that the patrol men highly suspected them to be the robbers who stormed Seputey Cottage.
They gave them a hot chase and arrested Abubakari Seidu but the other two managed to escape.

Police medical forms were issued to the victims to attend the hospital for treatment and to report back to assist in the investigation.
